Introduction

You will be working on your own, in an online learning environment to explore how to find and evaluate online resources. These are skills that you can and will use in multiple classes both now and throughout your college and professional careers. Please read all directions carefully. You should aim to complete all three lessons in the first two days so that your final day in the LMC can be used researching your topic.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN THE LESSONS BELOW, you must log into your DPS Google Drive. Follow these directions:
  1. Open Chrome
  2. Go to  docs.dpsnc.net (this gets you to your DPS Google Drive)
  3. Follow the authentication directions on the login screen.
  4. Do not download anything.
  5. You may have to complete an additional authentication step if you have never used your Google Drive before.  Just follow the directions on the screen.

Lesson One: Using Search Engines and Boolean Operators

Essential Question: How do I effectively find relevant information on the Web for my assignment?

Lesson Two: Using the CRAAP Test to Evaluate Resources

Essential Question: How can the CRAAP test help me evaluate digital resources for my assignment?

Lesson Three: Using DSA LMC Databases

Essential Question: How do I locate digital resources that are more likely to pass the CRAAP test?

Conclusion

Show us what you have learned by completing this Check For Understanding. You will be evaluated on your submission, so please be sure to use all that you have learned in each of the lessons above. Feel free to go back to the lessons if you are unsure what to include in your responses...if you follow the directions carefully in the lessons, you should be able to copy and paste much of the information into the form from your Google Doc.

The point of the concluding activity is to ensure that you are (or are becoming) and expert in finding and evaluating online resources. You can do it! You are amazing!
